The Autumn Equinox signifies the moment when the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator. This marks the end of the astronomical summer and beginning of the astronomical autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, and the end of the astronomical winter and start of the astronomical spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

The word “equinox” comes from Latin aequus, meaning “equal,” and nox, “night.”

This week we are focusing on carnelian, citrine, moss agate, smoky quartz and sunstone.

Today we are focusing on citrine.

Citrine: The Stone of Prosperity

Citrine is a variety of quartz. Citrine is usually yellow in colour but it can range from pale yellow to brown.

It was use in Ancient Grecian times around 300 - 150BC and believed to have been used in the breastplate of Aaron. In the book of Exodus, the stone was referred to as 'chrusolithos' which translated to 'golden stone' in Ancient Greek.
